ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will host a series of events next week to mark National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and Constitution Day on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The events, organized by Puget Sound’s Civic Engagement team and the Office of General Counsel and Risk Management, aim to foster civic participation and educate the campus community on the rights and responsibilities outlined in the U.S. Constitution.

Tuesday, Sept. 16
On National Voter Registration Day, a voter registration table will be set up in the Wheelock Student Center from 1 to 2 p.m. to assist students with registering to vote or updating their registration.

At 6 p.m., the Civic Engagement team will host a screening of the documentary Ultimate Citizens in the Rasmussen Rotunda. The film follows an Iranian-American school counselor who uses ultimate frisbee to build community among immigrant and refugee students. A panel discussion will follow the screening with director Francine Strickwerda, Professor Robin Jacobson, and representatives from the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Fix Democracy First, and the Pierce County Elections Office.

Wednesday, Sept. 17
Puget Sound will observe Constitution Day, a federal observance commemorating the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the U.S. Constitution. The Office of General Counsel & Risk Management and the Civic Engagement team will co-host a table in the Wheelock Student Center from 12 to 2 p.m. Attendees can pick up a pocket Constitution, test their civic knowledge, and enter prize drawings. The table will also provide free swag and information on community engagement opportunities.

All events are free and open to the campus community.
