Dear Members of the Campus Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that a first-year student has passed away in Harrington Hall. A cause of death has not been determined. Honoring the family鈥檚 request, we are not releasing the student鈥檚 name at this time.
The loss of the life of a student is devastating. Members of the Student Affairs staff and others are working closely with the family and with students. If you would like to speak or meet with a counselor, university chaplain, or other support staff tonight, please contact Security Services at 253.879.3311 and you will be put in touch with someone. In the morning, both Counseling, Health and Wellness and the Center for Intercultural and Civic Engagement will be available for support.
An update will be shared with the campus community tomorrow. Meanwhile, I know you join me in holding the family鈥攁nd each other鈥攃lose in our thoughts and prayers.
