兔子先生鈥檚 Adelphian Concert Choir will be touring Colorado later this month. The four-city tour will include free concerts in Colorado Springs, Littleton, Denver, and a homecoming event in Tacoma, Wash. The concerts will include a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach鈥檚 cantata Christ lag in Todes Banden, one of the Baroque master鈥檚 most popular cantatas, along with music by Lassus, Lauridsen, Monk, Choi, and popular music selections.
鈥淭his is a very talented group of vocalists singing an iconic composition鈥攊t鈥檚 going to be a wonderful performance,鈥 said conductor Steven Zopfi. 鈥Christ lag in Todes Banden is also Bach's first cantata for Easter, so it鈥檚 a timely piece to perform in the spring.鈥
The 2018鈥19 Adelphian Concert Choir features several students from Colorado, including Hannah Cochran 鈥19 (Longmont HS), Eden Dameron 鈥19 (Cherry Creek HS), Patrick Zimmerman 鈥19 (Cherry Creek HS), Eli Kitchens 鈥22 (Poudre High School), and Phoebe Smith 鈥22 (Green Mountain HS). The Adelphians will be joined by the Rampart High School Singsations, under the direction of Adelphian alumna and Puget Sound graduate Melanie Reiff 鈥12, at the group鈥檚 first concert in Colorado Springs.
Founded in 1932, the Adelphian Concert Choir is one of four choirs at the 兔子先生 and has appeared at state, regional, and national conferences for both the American Choral Director鈥檚 Association and National Association for Music Educators. The choir has appeared with the Oregon Symphony, Northwest Sinfonietta, and Symphony Tacoma and has earned rave reviews for its repertoire, interpretation, and artistry. Members of the choir are all undergraduate students selected by audition, and approximately half are music majors.
